New Eco-Textile labeling guide (click here for post) from EcoTextileNews
A new
textile labeling guide which is set to cut through the confusion surrounding
organic and eco-textiles standards and certification will be published in
September 2008 by Mowbray Communications Ltd in partnership with the global
textile exhibition organiser Messe Frankfurt.
This new, ground-breaking
easy-to-read handbook will update readers on the latest voluntary and
obligatory organic textile standards and certification along with eco-textile
labeling and the various options available for sourcing textiles in a socially
responsible manner.
Information on organic textile
standards such as GOTS, IVN, IWTO, KRAV, BioSuisse and Organic Exchange etc
will be supplemented by snapshots on how to certify textiles to these standards
from companies such as Control Union, Soil Association, JOCA, IMO and ICEA etc.
Outside of the organic textiles area
the new guide book will inform readers on the latest textile labelling criteria
from bluesign technologies, Cradle-to-Cradle, EU Eco-Label, Oeko-Tex, Blue
Angel, Better Cotton Initiative, FSC accreditation and more.
If you are a buyer or a textile
manufacturer wanting to know more about sourcing and producing eco-textiles
this new guide-book is a ‘must read’ information resource. It will also be
updated annually as the criteria for these standards evolve in line with market
requirements.
Easy explanations of what the NOP,
EU 2092/91, IFOAM and JAS standards mean for both textile manufacturers and
retailers will also be outlined in the guide which will also include a detailed
glossary and tabular comparisons of the various standards.
The new publication will be printed
in both English and Chinese to help to spread the message about sustainable
textiles and clothing in both the major manufacturing and buying regions of the
world.
